THE STORY
A new outline for the everyday
Scenes imagined. Actual watch photographs are in Watch details.
A watch can feel modern through its outline alone. Omega’s vintage archive dates the Genève reference ST 162.0010 to 1968. Specialist research identifies 162.010 as the shorter form of that reference and describes the family’s square dress-watch case and automatic calibre 565. Together, those records place the design in the late 1960s, while leaving the production date of this particular example to be established. OMEGA vintage archive; Omega Forums reference study
Imagine a bright room, an open doorway and a low table catching the afternoon sun. The scene is invented, a setting for the feeling of clean lines and unhurried space. No famous occasion is needed. The attraction is the possibility of a well-made object becoming part of an ordinary day.
Balance of Time describes this Genève as an automatic cushion-case watch, with a date at three. Its inner back is marked “162 010” and “ACIER INOXYDABLE”; the movement macro shows “Ω565” and “30712571.” Those surviving markings give the research something concrete to follow without settling the watch’s exact age or originality. The shape makes the first impression, while automatic winding adds another layer to its design story. Inner-back photograph · Movement photograph
That is where the historical outline meets the object. The actual photographs should follow as their own view, with room to study the dial, the case and the marks that survive on both. Its exact age and originality deserve evidence, rather than a story that fills the gaps for them.
