Quartz Watch Repair

Battery Replacement and Diagnosis

Balance of Time replaces watch batteries and evaluates quartz watches for owners in Tucson, Vail, and Southern Arizona. When a quartz watch stops, the battery is the logical first consideration—but it is not the only possible cause.

The initial service can include inspection of the removed battery, battery compartment, electrical contacts, visible leakage or corrosion, caseback, and gasket condition. After the correct battery is installed, the watch is checked for normal operation. If it does not restart or behaves incorrectly, further diagnosis may be recommended.

Battery replacement does not automatically establish that a watch is water resistant. Gaskets age, cases and crowns wear, and formal water-resistance testing requires appropriate equipment and a separate determination. No water-resistance claim is made unless it has been specifically evaluated.

Quartz problems that may require further attention

Battery leakage, corroded contacts, damaged coils, worn setting components, moisture entry, obsolete movements, and unavailable parts can turn a routine battery request into a repair decision. The findings and practical options are discussed before additional work proceeds.

Vintage quartz watches

Older quartz watches may have historically interesting or discontinued movements. These are approached with the same preservation mindset as vintage mechanical watches, including consideration of originality and parts availability.
